Analysis of the Accuracy of Reconstruction of a Human Cornea by Two Geometric Modelling Techniques: A Comparative Study

Abstract This study compares two techniques of reconstruction and representation the anterior posterior surfaces human cornea, both for healthy keratoconus eyes, in a CAD software environment using raw tomographic data, by different methods: mesh model (obtained from grid points) NURBS surface model. After reconstruction, morpho-geometric analysis was made, several parameters were defined measured set 100 eyes 61 detecting statistical significant differences between methods groups. Mesh method proved to be more accurate, but less could modelled. Volumetric measurement values showed total equivalence methods, so these would ones use when modelling detection characterization purposes.
